This museum is in what is known locally as the Arriba street or calle de Arriba, but which is now called C/ Miguel Hernández street, near the school Colegio Santo Domingo (in the Rincón Hernandiano or the Hernandiano corner, it is also close to the Study centre 'Centro de Estudios Hernandianos' and the Exhibition hall 'Miguel Hernández'). It was acquired by the honourable Orihuela town hall in 1981 and opened after refurbishment on March 28 1985.

The poet Miguel Hernández lived in this house with his parents and siblings from 1914 to 1934.

This was a home that was used to house livestock at the beginning of the XX century, just like other houses in the same street.

Museo

The rooms of the house are in line with the natural lie of land and are linked by terraces along which the home and the courtyard can be found as well as shelter for the livestock and the vegetable patches.

Museo

The house has several rooms: dining room, sitting room, parents' room, the sisters' rooms and Miguel and his brother Vicente's room as well as the kitchen.

Museo

In this museum we can observe the typical furniture and trousseau typical of houses in the Orihuela area at the beginning of the last century, as well as photographs of different times in the poet's life.
