The Department of Tourism of the City of Orihuela has put into operation a modern system of audio guides aimed at improving the experience of guided tours and reinforcing the accessibility of the tourist routes that take place in the municipality.
This action is part of the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD) and is 100% financed by the European Next Generation EU funds, within the municipal strategy aimed at promoting a more sustainable, accessible and quality tourism model.
In this sense, the Councilor for Tourism, Gonzalo Montoya, stressed that "with this new equipment, we take a fundamental step in the way visitors discover Orihuela. Our goal is to make our immense cultural and historical heritage fully accessible and enjoyed with the highest technical excellence"
The new equipment consists of wireless communication systems designed to transmit the guide's voice in real time through individual headsets for participants. Its main function is to ensure that all people can hear explanations clearly, crisply and effortlessly, regardless of the size of the group or the acoustic conditions of the environment.
Thanks to this system, optimal listening to the historical, cultural and artistic content that is disseminated during the tours is ensured, allowing you to follow the explanations and recommendations of the guides with total sound fidelity.
Among the main advantages of this system is the freedom of movement it offers to visitors, who no longer need to stay with the guide to listen correctly to the explanations, being able to tour the spaces more comfortably without losing any detail of the visit. It also improves the ergonomics and working conditions of the professionals who make the routes, by preventing them from having to strain their voices during long journeys, helping to prevent vocal fatigue.
In addition, the incorporation of these audio guides brings a greater degree of professionalism to the tourist visits and ensures that all members of the group enjoy the same quality of information, making the most of the cultural and heritage experience that Orihuela offers.
This resource also contributes to a more sustainable management of tourist activities, as it reduces the need to raise the volume of voice in public spaces, favouring a more respectful coexistence with residents and minimising the acoustic impact on the urban environment.
