Gastronomic routes
Orihuela is a territory with a common identity that have been maintained over the centuries. One of them has been gastronomy, tangible element that is part of our culture and, as such, is a huge tourist resort. As shown by our countless bars and restaurants you can be found the most deeply rooted traditional dishes, including the famous rice and cooked crust or balls, of Jewish origin.
Many of them have special products from the environment of the garden or El Palmeral, such as artichokes, hearts of palm or date. Also nearby coastline spotless waters and exquisite "seafood", which give wonderful result as rice, fried or grilled, as well as our typical salted fish.
The gastronomic route has been completed including traditional ovens and convents. Without forgetting our tearooms, where exquisite sweets are made as almojábanas, of Arab origin, or cakes of glory.
