The Department of Tourism modernizes the offices of Orihuela center and the coast with new digital and interactive equipment

The Orihuela City Council, through the Department of Tourism, has taken a new step to promote digitalization and improve visitor service with the implementation of modern technological equipment in the Tourist Info of Orihuela Center and in the City Council of Orihuela Costa. This action, framed within the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD), is 100% financed by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds.

In this sense, the Councilor for Tourism, Gonzalo Montoya, stressed that "it seems essential to us that our Tourism offices have the latest technologies in their work to offer visitors the best possible service".

The intervention consisted of the deployment of three state-of-the-art solutions aimed at optimising the user experience. In the Tourist Office of Orihuela Centro, an interactive tactile table has been installed equipped with an integrated computer system that allows tourists and residents to consult in an intuitive, agile and visual way all the offer of cultural, monumental and leisure resources of the municipality. In this same location in the historic centre, a 75-inch large-format monitor has been set up dedicated to the broadcast of digital signage content and institutional information.

For its part, in the City Council of Orihuela Costa, the replacement and renovation of the 32-inch screen of the outdoor kiosk has been carried out. To ensure maximum efficiency and continuity of service, the works have included the upgrade of the internal hardware and a high-stability configuration aimed at supporting uninterrupted operation 24 hours a day (24/7). In this way, the terminal located in the Town Hall of Orihuela Costa, ensures permanent access to the tourist information of the destination (agenda of events, directories and maps).

With this new facility, Orihuela reaffirms its commitment to consolidate itself as a Smart, sustainable and diversified Tourist Destination, promoting the enhancement of its cultural resources and socially and economically revitalizing the territory in a more balanced way.
